Farewell Bobby!

I am really sad today because our family dog Bobby passed away this morning at about 6am. He was 9 years old. I last saw Bobby at 5am. Bobby has been sick on Thursday and I took him to the vet and after the dog was given injection, he was much better. The veterinarian said the Bobby should recover within two days failing which I will have to admit Bobby later today.

My mother was very upset and cried this morning because she was very close to the dog. Bobby has brought us so much joy. I am also feeling very sad and could not contain my tears. I am too upset to write today.

In Buddhist tradition, may Bobby achieve a good rebirth.

  2. In my little knowledge of Buddhism, death is certainly not the end of life, merely the end of our body in this life; our spirit remains and seeks attachment to a new body and new life.
Where one will be born is a result of the past and the accumulation of positive and negative actions in this life, and the resultant karma is a result of one’s past actions.

The person could be reborn in one of 6 realms which are; heaven, human beings, Asura, hungry ghost, animal and hell.

We believe that none of these places are permanent and one does not remain in any place indefinitely.

As Buddhist, we know that life does not end but goes on in other forms that are the consequence of accumulated karma.

Therefore, CT, we should not fear death as it will lead to rebirth. If we do not obtain nirvana or enlightenment, we cannot escape the cycle of death and rebirth. None of us can avoid death. Hopefully, what happens after death justifies what we believe while we are alive.
