Health Status @ 31 July 2010

New information are presented in italics.

Problem
Tumor mass of size of about 14cm on the right kidney and 21 and 23 over nodes all over my left and right lungs respectively with one up to 3cm in size on both lungs. Possibly also spread to the liver.

First detected on 11 September 2009 through CT Scan. Subsequent CT scan on 1 March 2010 showed some improvements on the larger nodes in the lungs but did not provide enough details on the smaller nodes. The primary tumor is now about 12.4cm, about the same size in October 2009. The two bigger nodes on the left and right lungs has reduced by about 1.5cm. However, a new node was detected about the size of 3.5cm x 3.7cm at the T6 area.

Prognosis
Consulted four urologists (one in Singapore and three in Malaysia) and two oncologists (one in Malaysia and one in Singapore). Both oncologists suggested removal of right kidney. Singapore urologist also suggested removal of kidney. The three urologists do not recommend surgery or chemotherapy. The last urologist consulted said most of his patients died within six months of surgery while two on the expensive (RM20K per month) drug Sutent is not responding. All agree that is no cure for the moment.

My urologist said my cancer is at stage 4 and did not recommend me to take any treatment. It is also my own choice not to take conventional treatment after considering all the facts of the case.

Schedule for next scan is on 26 August 2010. Consultation with oncologist scheduled for 2 September 2010

MAIN THERAPIES
a. Modified Gerson Therapy
a1. Coffee Enema
Initially, four times a day for four weeks, every four hours apart. Currently three times a day in the morning, afternoon and evening for 15 minutes. Commence castor oil enema from 23 January 2010.

Last week reduced coffee enema to two times a day for three days and then went back to three times a day. Body is not ready for a reduction of coffee enema.

a2. Nutrition Diet
All fruits and vegetables mentioned are organic.
i. Juicing - 11 fruit and vegetables juices a day beginning around 7am and ending 7pm. 5 apple+carrot, 2 carrot and 4 green vegetable juices every hourly. Liver supplements are taken together with carrot juices.
2. Diet - No oil, no sugar and no salt on all cooking. For breakfast and supper, mainly oats with some raisins, sometimes a little Manuka honey is added. For lunch and dinner, vegetables such as Siew Pak Choy, Lettuce, lady's fingers, cauliflower, broccoli and spinach are mainly steamed or boiled. K-salt is added for flavoring. A teaspoon of flaxseed oil is added when serving (but not during cooking). Mainly boiled potatoes and sometimes Somali organic brown rice is consumed. Hippocrates soup are also prepared every other day for daily consumption.
3. Supplements - K-salt, B12, niacin, lugol solution, pancreatin, pepsin and Q10.
4. Others - Rye bread, papaya, guavas, oranges and bananas are consumed at regular intervals.

b. Homeopathy Medicine
Consulting Doctor: DR AU Ramakrishnan MBBS, PhD, Chennai, India (http://www.drramakrishnan.com/)
Local Consultant: Vishuddi Lee
Treatment Started: 6 November 2009.
Consulting: Once every two months in Singapore. Next appointment 3 September 2010.
Reaction: No further reactions observed other than mouth ulcers every now and then.

COMPLEMENTARY THERAPIES
c. Oxygen Therapy
Started using a personal oxygen generator with effect from 8 March 2010 about 1 hour in the evening, 20 minutes per session. Richer oxygen does help in controlling the growth of the tumors. It also reduces fatigue.

d. Zhineng Qigong
Started practicing qigong on 11 March 2010. Attend classes five times a week from 6.30am to 8am.

Health Status
Currently weighs 67.7kgs. Pain around the shoulder blade area arising from sleep still occurs once in a while. Repositioning my body helps ease the pain. No traces of blood clots found in phlegm during the last week. Chest area is clear. Mouth ulcers started to return.

My diet is back to potatoes and stewed/steamed vegetables and occasionally oatmeal. Feeling a bit more hungry of late and have no problems sleeping.

Verdict
Another good week.

Hanging On

For the last month, I have included red apples in my diet (2 to 3 apples a day for juices and eaten raw). I stayed away from other type of permitted sugars like brown sugar except when I am doing castor oil enema. Of course, it would be good to follow the Gerson receips but since I am doing this therapy on my own, I stayed simple and hence the food is not that tasty. I keep on telling myself, only for 2 years and almost 1 year is already up.

Last night as I was about to retire to bed, I sneezed. This was followed by blocked nose and as I lie down to sleep, I really had a difficult time breathing through my mouth. The heart beat seems slow and irregular. However, as the night progressed, the body calmed down and the blocked nose also started to clear, the breathing became more regular.

My back pain that arises when sleeping is most likely caused by posture. I have been using a higher pillow to support the head/neck and this seems to have eased the problem. The pain I have now is mostly from remaining in the same position for too long. I have also been getting up a little less nowdays for my night urine, mostly twice a night which is good. The change came about because I beginning to finish my daily juices, dinner and supper much earlier. Do remember, I still need two and a half hours for my homeopathy medication (taken after dinner) during which time I cannot eat anything (my supper actually). Eating too early is also not good because I can get hungry in the middle of the night.

Moderate Expectations

I have been on two coffee enemas for the last three days and my body is telling me that I need to go back up to three again. By late afternoon, I feel a little dull and the night enema is also difficult to do. I will revisit after my first anniversary on 11 September. My body also feels a little warmer these few days. Everything else looks and feels normal. During the last few days when I was doing the coffee enema, I experienced a slight pulsating pain around my right abdomen area lasting for a few seconds. This is the first time I experienced it since I started doing coffee enema over 10 months ago. Nothing to worry, I think it is a good reaction.

As I approach year 2 of my therapy, I am rereading the materials to see what changes I can or should make to my diet and therapy. Should I continue with the strict regime since I started? Actually, I can enjoy more variety of foods now but I have not. It's still too early now to decide because what I can do will depend on the outcome of the scan.

For now, the diet that I am on is not that bad but of course, it can be improved. Improved it will but only after the results are out. Of course I am expecting some positive developments (if the signals from my body did not betray me and the tumors did not operate in super stealth mode).

Roses Have Thorns Too

As the month of July comes to a close in a few days time, the tension will start to build on me again. This is because I will be sitting for a test on 26 August 2010, the CT scan. Having survived for about 1 year then, it is to confirm the progress that I have made todate with my therapies. I have been walking this long and dark road fraught with lightning and tunderstorms that never seems to end. The journey is not only physicaly exhausting but mentally challenging as well. At the other far end of the road I see some faint light but not sure if that was nothing more than that caused by the lightning, a false alarm but yet without hope, how am I going to take another step to complete this journey?

Already being caught in this maze riddled with puzzles of never ending mind games and yet it is punctuated with a thread of hope. Like a drowning man, I catch whatever within reach, but I must be careful with the thread of hope for it is so fragile, almost invisible to see in the dark, to grip in such a manner that it will not be broken. Theory is so easy to postulate but carrying it out is another thing. Such is the condition of my mind at the moment. As I have said before, live goes on. Focus on the therapy and live in a day tight compartment (Dale Carnegie).

Getting Better

Yesterday was a tiring day for me. Despite the afternoon nap, I was still not in the "mood". By late afternoon, I was developing early symptoms of flu and was sneezing unusually more. The back was aching, not sure if it from Sunday's massage or from the flu that is developing. By early evening, my body temperature started to increase slightly and after dinner I quickly prepare to take my night enema. However, just before I started the enema, the flu like symptoms started to subside a bit and I was feeling a little cold.

This morning, I woke up feeling better but noticed that my body temperature is still a little high. The qigong exercises was good and I felt much better after the exercises. I have developed one mouth ulcer but everything else looks normal. The chest area appears quite, whatever that has been brewing yesterday seems to have stopped. Breathing is normal and no coughing. I believe I would be more energetic when I complete the morning enema and as the day progresses. Cheer up, it's a lovely day!

The sound quality from the Philips Music Cube that I bought on Sunday is actually quite good. Despite the smallness of the speaker powered by a 3.5" woofer, the clarity of the sound is good and is biased towards the bass and drums, i.e. lower tones. The bass and drums sound very deep and full, though I would prefer some balance at higher tones.

A Slow Monday

At 6am this morning as I was preparing my juices before going for my qigong class, I noticed that there was a slight drizzle. I drank my first juice of the day and stored one in the thermos and went back to bed. Woke up again 45 minutes later to drink my second jiuce and then continued my sleep. I was really tired and by the time I woke up again, it was already 8.45am. Its been a long time since I woke up that late in the monrning. Sometimes the more you sleep, the more tired you feel. Today was on of those days.

Something is brewing in my chest area. There has been signs of some activities, not painful but I can sometime feel the pressure around that area. Also, I get this "lose food" lingering around the throat area that I need to cough and when I do, you can see some small amounts of blood clots in the phelgm. So far signs points to healing and I hope I am right.

Currently, I listen to most of my music through my computer, even when I am doing coffee enema. The music quality is flat. So I bought myself a small Philips Music Cube, a small CD player with acceptable music quality for the price that I paid (RM270). It comes with two external links, a MP3 and USB link to allow you to connect to external MP3/iPod player and also play song stored in UBS drives which is really convenient. A little luxury for me in the room.

Slowly But Surely

This morning I was awaken by a dull pain on my back just below the shoulder blade area around 5am. A slight shift of body posture did ease the pain a bit and before you know it, it's time to get up and start the new day. I will also visit my regular massuer for a light massage today. In my pre cancer days, I would lie facedown and my masseur would stand on my back holding on to a beam that was fixed on the ceiling. She would use both her legs to massage my back. I would feel little or no pain at all! That's how toxic my body condition was. Thanks to coffee enema, the pain has disappeared. Now even a light hand massage could leave me with pain for a few days. In addition to this, I also go for once a month foot massage.

I have been thinking this for a while and originally had planned to start in September but will try it out for this week. I am reducing my coffee enema from three times daily to two times, one in the morning and one in the evening. This follows my observation that the afternoon enema is not so effective, perhaps there are less toxicity in my body now.

I am more relaxed now enjoying what little comfort that I am having. Although I cannot yet return to my normal pre cancer days activities, I am not complaining. The body is behaving well, giving me very little problem in terms of pain or other discomfort. I can still sleep and eat well. Energy level are also good. It really feels good.

Very good week.

Testing Of Confidence

I was a little busy this morning having to goto my daughter's school to collect her report card. Now that's done, I am trying to catch up my daily schedule. The last few days, I have been waking up at least four times a night (yesterday was six times) for my night urine. My last urine before I go to bed is 11pm. I finish my last juicing of the day at about 6.30pm, so I do not expect to have so much night urine but it has increased compared to previously. The only additional thing I eat together with my oatmeal supper is an apple. I am going to make a change from today onwards and observe if the situation improves. I will take my apple during dinner time together with other fruits.

I am still coughing now and then (not continuous basis) in the mornings and noticed there are still blood clots in my phlegm. Situation is under control and no signs of any adverse deterioration in the body. Things are good and I am having a good time. As reported previously, I need to improve on my sleep (one nap in the afternoon may not be enough).

The Show Must Go On

My attention is now focused on exercising the shoulder blade area. Although the pain arising from the area due to sleep is improving, there are still some exercises I must do to help ease the problem. The blood clots in my phlegm is still there especially if I have a very hard cough. Blood clots are signs that the wounds are healing. Like in the hand, after a cut, the blood clots to allow the cut area to heal and overtime, the clotted blood drops off. However, when it happens in the lungs area, that area is moist and the normal way is to expell it through coughs. So long as there are no fresh blood, I believe things are under control.

There are not much happening these days. I am still busy as ever, doing marketing, making the soup, jucicing and performing coffee enemas. Boring as it may be, the show must go on. I have to constantly remind myself not to slack and continue to focus on the therapy. With my improving condition, it is much easier to do nowdays.

Body Changes

I observed that there have been some changes to my body. For example, I have been having mouth ulcers ever since I started this therapy but for the last two weeks, I am not only free of mouth ulcers, the last time the mouth ulcers that wanted to develop just did not materialise. I have also been more tolerant to cold water now and can now bath in cold water. Previously I would shiver. My body which feels a little warm, sort of like slight feverish has also seen a drop in temperature, its still warm but not as much as before.

Yesterday I not only managed to complete my errands, I was able to meet many of my ex-colleagues and have lunch with them as well. I am happy to note a number of them have been keeping fit. One of them said I look young and yet old at the same time. Another said I look young from far but old from near. I think the explanation is that my skin really looks young (this diet is fantastic, better than any beauty spa or cream on the market to make you look younger) but I also have wrinkles around my forehead due to aging and also from weight loss.

As Time Goes By

I have been reading up a little bit on the shoulder back pain. Pains that occur under the shoulder blade may signal a warning that the pain is not in the shoulder itself, but can be related to a pain from one of the organs in the body. The shoulder where the pain occurs can give the clue which of the organs are affected and causing the radiating pain into the shoulder. Pain under the left shoulder blade can be a signal that there is a problem with the stomach or in the chest. Pain under the right shoulder blade can be a signal of a gall-bladder inflammation or gallstones. Or it can relate to liver disease, or a problem with the duodenum. With the problems that I am having, the pain seems to be consistent with the above explanation.

It could also be related to posture because in my case, this only happens towards the early morning during my sleep. When I am awake, there is no pain around that area. It maybe due to consistent pressure of the body weight that could have caused the pain which can happen during sleep. Anyway I am trying some exercises around the shoulder blade and back area in the hope it can help or to relief the pain. If I remember correctly, I did encounter this problem earlier and it went away after a while.

So far, indications from my body are good. My buttocks feels less painful now when sitting as muscles starts to grow back. The buttocks are most sensitive because other than standing, it will be affected when sitting or sleeping. As time goes by, other areas of my body will continue to improve.

I am a bit busy today having to run some errands and will be in town for a few hours. I am now busy preparing the necessities to take along so that I can still continue my therapy while in town. If I have time, I will drop by to say hello to some of my ex-colleagues.

The Truth Will Set You Free

I have been coughing once in a while, mostly in the morning. I still notice small amounts of blood clots in the phelgm. So far there has not been any deterioration in the lungs area, no pain and the like was detected. This could be the lungs clearing itself of, hopefully dead tumor cells. Hey, lets not get too depressed with this development which I think is a positive sign.

The shoulder area pain is still bodering me yesterday. I am not sure if this was caused by the light massage I took earlier in the day. I spend the whole night sleeping without pillow as this seems give me least discomfort but this is also not my usual way of sleeping, so it will take time getting used to it. So my sleep has been affected a bit. I am still feeling fine. The last few days, my qigong classes was cut short because of the weather. There is a tendency to drizzle in the morning but only for a while.

A case I mentioned recently wherein I was providing support via email, the couple finally called me. I asked the wife (who has cancer) to tell me what she did (juicing, diet and coffee enema, etc). I wanted to know if she is following the Gerson Therapy (GT) correctly. About an hour later, the husband called and he also told me his version of the what the wife did. What the husband told me was more in line with the GT but the wife said otherwise. I tend to believe the wife because if she had read the GT (which she did not) and followed it, she should not have encountered many of her problems. I still don't understand why one of them cannot be truthful with me, the only reason I could think of is they are afraid I may scold. Even if I did (I did not by the way) is to emphasize the importance of adherence to the therapy because a life is at stake here. Anyway I have suggested a few changes that she should make and hopefully she will follow and see some improvements.

Like A Yoyo

I have been very candid about how I feel as I undergo this therapy. Despite over 10 months into the therapy, the confidence level is not cast in stone, but rather like razor blade thin wall, waiting to collapse anytime. Until and unless the results are comfirmed by CT scan, the mood will swing like a yoyo. Despite the mood swings, I do feel great because I am happy to be still alive! I have been reminded while one must have hope, expectations should be managed because the higher the expectations, the greater the disappointments when the results are out, especially negative results could lead to depression. All living beings suffer from mental and physical sufferings. While it is easier to manage physical sufferings, mental suffering are not easy to handle. Why do you think people commit sucide?

Although the shoulder blade area pain in minimal, but when it comes, it does disturb my sleep because I would need to toss and turn. I believe the pain is posture related because when I lie flat on the bed (without the pillow), the pain is minimal and when I stack up with pillows and lie on it while watching TV, then the pain comes quite quickly. I believe my body is quite stiff possibly due to lack of exercises. Maybe I should try and do some light exercises (especially stretching) now that my energy levels are so much better.

Facing The Inevitable

I have been inspecting my body daily for signs of adverse development. This follows the resumption of coughing of blood clots in my phelgm on Monday that lasted for three days. However, I did not cough the last two days, so I do not know if it has stopped. However, when I do cough, I do fell a little pressure on my lungs. Body pain is still minimal, I get occasional pain from my shoulder area when sleeping face up. Sleeping on my sides would solve the problem.

These are some of the problems I face when doing this therapy on your own. You are not sure if the developments are healing reactions or the tumors are advancing. Of course, reading other people's experiences and the book helps but when you are out in the sea on a small boat, sometimes even small waves will rock the boat. A deep commitment and faith on the therapy are required and I constantly remind myself of this. I have already seen so many cases where when there was of some negative (could also be healing reactions) developments, the person jumps ship. I can certaintly understand this fear because you want to hang on to someting, anything believable to save your own precious life.

I am handling this slightly differently. I have already accepted the fact I may not survive long ago but this is not to say I have given up trying. It's just that I will continue to do what I think will help myself but if I fail in the process, I will not fret and will be glad to go. I remember reading in one of Osho's book that death itself is not to be feared but a start of another adventure. I have stopped resisting, attaching, clamed my fears and hopefully, my decade over of Buddhist training will help me walk my last days, should it come. No don't get me wrong thinking the latest developments are leading to this, but death is constantly on my mind, since I started my Buddhist training in 2000. Part of my Buddhist training is to face death, to ponder and even to medidate about death. I have even prepared what to do moments before death (so that it becomes second nature to me), so that the mind does not dwell in regrets and over things I fail to do.

Endurance Race

Since suspending coffee enema, I have been feeling lethargic, a little dull. Not sure if this was due to the body still not being able to expell all the toxins from the body on its own. I do not cough most of the time, hence I do not know if the blood clots found in the phelgm has stopped or not. I also have this feeling of heart burn and do feel I have a little indigestion, so there is a little discomfort around the lower rib area. My breathing is normal, even when exercising which is a good sign. I have been able to generate bowel movements without problems. By Saturday, I will resume back my coffee enema.

Until I have completed the next scan at end of August 2010, I will continue with my therapy, monitor the progress and endure any of the healing reactions. The CT scan result is critical to show the progress or regress of the tumors. Of course, all signs points to a positive outcome, the question is one of degree of recovery.

Since changing my diet, I feel hungry all the time and I have been eating without restraint. I am worried about the development on my spare tyre around my waist. I am not into rigorous exercises at the moment and any excess weight is a burden on the body. On the other hand, this is also not a time to diet because weight loss is not good for me either. I will have to learn how to balance the two.

Plodding On

I am not going through a coughing spell, only that once in a while I cough, possibly to expell something inside my body. Anyway, at the time of writing this post, I have yet to cough and examination of my chest area did not show any adverse signs. My breathing is normal and there are no signs of deterioration around the chest area. The vein around my right side just under the rib area is still a little painful when pressed against. So what I did was just to lightly massage the area.

The trip to Singapore has exhausted me physically because I spend quite a lot of time walking around. I will probably need a day or two more to recover fully. I will suspend my coffee enema till Saturday, to allow the body a whole week to adjust and see if my bowel movements can come back to normalcy without the aid of any enemas. My body is also a little stiff and I had a little problem doing the bending qigong exercises. Still I geel good after the exercises, though it was a little tiring this morning. My next batch of mouth ulcers has started to develop. Still, I am happy to be alive and kicking.

Calm Before The Storm?

I have read in some posts that when the body is healing, it will experience some pain. I think there are some developments in my lungs area as I do feel uncomfortable at times but there is no pain at the moment. In any case, I am not so much worried about the latest development because there is little I can do now but to continue with the therapy with conviction and faith.

I will stop doing coffee enema for a few days as Dr Rama wants to find out if my body is able to generate its own bowel movements (no problems for yesterday and today). My trip to Singapore this time round has also allowed me to gauge my physical strength and though oatmeal is not everyone's cup of tea, it has served me well, providing me the fiber and nurishment in the absence of juicing when travelling. Because of my improved energy levels, I was able to walk and move around with ease. However, I am still not able to carry heavy backpack as after a few hours of carrying, it can be painful on my shoulders.

A Tiring Trip

Today is my first day of my 11th month of therapy. There are some developments, though I am not sure if that is good or not. This morning, I again cough blood clots. This time, it's a little more that the last time but unlike last time which was very painful, there is a little pain in my lung areas. I was also examining my right side of my stomach and noticed there is one vein protruding just underneath the skin. If you press it a little, there is some pain.

I just came from Singapore a little over 2 hours ago. This time the trip is a little tiring because of the timing. I had a lot more time to kill and so when to do some windows shopping. Anyway Dr Rama thinks I am making good progress and he is anxious for me to take a scan and thereafter see the oncologist to review the progress. The scan is being planned for 30 August while the review with the oncologist is on 2 September, followed by Dr Rama on 3 September. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I met KC for the first time and he looks really thin. I also found out he stopped Gerson Therapy since March 2010 after being on the therapy for 6 months. His reason for stopping was that he was feling weak and there were a lot of stomach gases resulting him being not able to eat so much. Despite being supervised by a certified Gerson therapist, his conviction to the therapy was not full. He seems to have doubts and also felt the therapist is not doing correctly. Anyway he is now back to do his second round of chemo. I wish him luck. Perhaps the therapy is not for everyone.

How Do You Mend Broken Confidence?

I will be travelling to Singapore shortly. The last few day has been hectic and I drove my visitors around town and also to Malacca. My chedule for this morning is also packed beside having to do one coffee enema and also preparing the juices before I leave. However, except for feeling tired, perhaps due lack of sleep, I am feeling very good. No major problems encountered.

Recently I wrote about a case which you can read here, the patient is now hospitalised and the doctors has threatened her if she discharge from hospital and not take the chemotherapy, he will not be responsible should anything happen to her. He would also discharge himself as her doctor and will not accept her as a patient anymore. Due to her lack of understanding of the Gerson Therapy (which I believe was due to not reading the therapy herself), she has lost confidence in GT and wondered if she should stop GT and take the doctor's recommendation. My friend contact me and asked if I could see her to convince her of GT and after discussing with my wife, I think it would best not to meet her because I am not a qualified therapist and I do not want to be held responsible to influence her to make such critical life and death decisions. I can only say that people who do not want to read and understand the GT docementation should not do the therapy because these people will not be able to handle problems that arises during the therapy. She must have the confidence in herself in order to do and complete the therapy.

Health Status @ 11 July 2010

Schedule for next scan is on 30 August 2010.

MAIN THERAPIES
a. Modified Gerson Therapy
a1. Coffee Enema
Initially, four times a day for four weeks, every four hours apart. Currently three times a day in the morning, afternoon and evening for 15 minutes.

Commence castor oil enema from 23 January 2010.

Next appointment 12 July 2010.

Weight stabilised at 68±1kgs. Pain around the shoulder blade area due to pressure from sleep is still giving me some problems but the pain is now minimal. Other than this, everything looks good.

I find eating oatmeal in place of potatoes is quite good because not only I did not have any stomach gases problems, I feel quite full too. Now, when I need to go out, I just take my oatmeal along and can quickly cook up a meal anytime and anywhere, giving me new found mobility.

Verdict
Very good week.

302 Days And Counting

Yes, tomorrow marks the end of 10 months of the therapy. These 10 months passed safely and I hope the following months will also be good. Summary of what happened during the last 10 months:

Positives
- Responding to therapy
- Body weight stabilisation
- Higher energy levels
- Minimal body pain
- Growth of muscles/flesh around buttocks, rib areas and other parts of the body
- Signs of tumors shrinking

Negatives
- Initial weight loss
- Experienced stomach gases, fevers and body pain during healing process
- Persistent mouth ulcers

I have been reporting improvements in my energy levels and body health, so today I put it through a test. I (with my wife) took my sister in law and her Scottish friend for 1 day tour of Malacca. We visited all the must see sites (Stadhuys, St. Paul's Hill, St. John's Hills and Hang Li Po Temple) and also did some shopping at Jonkers Street buying some souvenirs and biscuits/pasteries. However, we could not sample the famous Chicken Ball Rice nor the Satay Chelup as there was just too big a crowds at the restaurants, so we ended eating other local food instead. The planned 6 hours trip ended taking 8 hours instead. I still managed to take 7 juices and two enemas in between. I had oatmeal and fruits (apples & guavas) for lunch and teatime. The damage if any was a stiff shoulder. I felt very good and no loss of energy nor did I feel weak. This is not the end as I will be heading for Genting Highlands this evening too! I am taking this test to gauge my stamina and health condition as I plan to do some work/travel later part of the year. I think I passed, a far cry from the last test in November 2009.

Great Weekend Ahead

Everything is going fine so far. I have no major complains, not even the mouth ulcers is going to impact me. The body is strong and feels good. Sleep maybe affected slightly by the shoulder area pain due to pressure of the body during sleep but I think it will go away as I spend sometime exercising.

This is also going to be busy weekend for me as my sister in law is in town visiting together with her friend from UK. My wife and I will be showing them around town and come Sunday I will be travelling to Singapore to meet Dr Rama for follow-up. My new found friend KC is trying to arrange with a meeting with another couple who has successfully gone through the Gerson Therapy to cure cancer. I got so much questions to ask them, I will be making a list in case I forget.

This post will be short as well, just to let you know I feel great!

Feeling Up

Today I will make my posting short because I am running short of time. I had quite a busy day including visiting my dentist. I had to make sure that the timing is correct so that I do not miss out any juicing for the day besides going for the vegetables marketing and preparing Hippocrates soup.

There is still pain around my shoulder blade area but it is not that bad now. I have also been able to catch back some sleep by taking a nap in the afternoon. There is very little pain now. I think I am beginning to gain back weight. My buttocks are much firmer now and the skeletal ribs area has also more flesh now. The spare tyre around my waist is also getting bigger, so I may have to cut down some food!

I am feeling very good physically and the energy levels have also improved. A slight change in diet has reduced my stomach gases problem and now I am eating a lot more, especially fruits.

Determination Is Good But Informationless Is Bad

The backache on my shoulder blade area continued to be a problem for me as it disturbs my sleep. So I have to toss and turn all night. As a result I did not sleep that well and now I am getting a little headache in the mornings. My remedy is to take naps during day time.

I think I am gaining back some weight though it is not showing in the weighing scale. That electronic weighing scale that I used is not accurate because depending where you stand on the platform, the weight shows up differently. Anyway I just stand in the same position everytime when I use it and only for a guide.

Currently I am assisting another cancer patient via email and they have chosen Gerson Therapy after reading a brochure published by a multilevel marketing firm over conventional treatment. They started the therapy before I got to know them through a common friend. They are really brave because despite not reading Dr Gerson's book, they have embarked on the therapy based on information on the brochure only. They are facing a host of problems now and subsequently contacted me for some suggestions. Of course, remedies to many of her problems are found in the book but since they did not read, they did not know what to do. There are also other problems not found in the book though, one of them is low blood pressure (besides vomitting) which they think is caused by the coffee enema. Caffeine actually causes the blood pressure to rise. Anyway, she was hospitalised and the doctors put her on a sodium diet and some anti-vomitting medicine before discharging her the next day. Meanwhile I am searching the Net for more information and see how to help them. I know they are not following the therapy completely based on some information given to me. My warning to them (her husband) is that you are risking a life of a person by doing a therapy that you have only sketchy information and no complete idea how to do it properly.

Happier Days Ahead

I went for a light massage yesterday. While my neck and shoulder are not so tense, I still have a little headache. I am now preparing my coffee enema solution and hope to take it soon after as it will help me. The pain around my shoulder blade area caused by my body weight during sleeping is still there and I am managing it by sleeping on my sides.

Come Friday, I will have safely completed 10 months of the therapy. I will write a short summary in point form some highlights. If my body indications and feelings are correct, then I am in great shape.

I will be travelling to Singapore this Sunday to meet Dr Rama, my homeopathy doctor for follow-up. Upon arrival, I am meeting KC, a fellow Gerson Therapy patient who is one of the visitor to my blog. As he is under supervision of a Gerson therapist, I hope to learn more about his experience and find out more about other patients who are following the therapy. I hope to modify my therapy to make it more effective by learning from the pros.

Charity Begins At Home

Yesteday I experienced headache specifically around my left temple. I quickly embarked on my coffee enema to help out. I think internal "heat" has become stronger and based on pre cancer days experience, this is largely due to insufficient sleep. The other area impacted is the neck and shoulder area which becomes very tense. The back pain and night urine is the main cause of my lack of sleep. I have been turning and tossing all night to shift the pressure of my weight on my back. Looks like today I have to go for a light massage to release the tension build up around the neck and shoulder area and also lightly massage the back as well. I am not sure if the back pain is cause by my watching of movies on the TV while lying in bed and also the watching of some documentatries on my notebook in bed. Sometimes I am tired and lie in bed but did not sleep because I would not be able to sleep at night if I sleep to much during the daytime.

I met the lady with stage 4 lung cancer last Friday. I understand that she is currently undergoing chemotherapy with two more courses to go. Her cancer has also spread to the bones. When I met her, she was busy doing some part-time work and I suppose it must be giving her some good income because she could not find time to read any of my articles that I sent to her a few weeks ago. Prior to meeting her, I did some search at the Net and found a number of people who did chemo and also the coffee enema at the same time and shared how it benefitted them and help them reduce the side effects of chemo. I documented the website into a file for her. I told her, it is she that will cure herself of cancer, not the doctor or me. To do that, she must change her mind set. I do not know if she will follow because she was negative towards the diet and the coffee enema. I also reminded her that she got months to live and if the body deteriorates she may not get another chance to do any other therapy. I was a salesman desperately selling the Gerson Therapy product to meet my monthly quota. Sigh...

Going forward, I will continue to help out but my assistance will be to explain some other points of the therapy rather than to be a salesman. If people are not willing to help themself, then how can I help them? After all, charity begins at home.

I have not been sleeping well because of that and also of the night urine. I think internal "heat" has build up, my shoulder and neck area are a little tense but get better with a light massage.

I am varying my diet a little now, alternating between brown rice porridge, oatmeal and potatoes. So far, so good and bloating is at minimal.

Verdict
Roller coaster but still a good week.

Dark Clouds And Thunderstorms Ahead

Lately, I have been getting up at least 3 times and sometimes 4 times a night for my night urine and this is really disturbing my sleep. As a result, I do not get sufficient sleep unless I skip my qigong classes which, sometime I do when I am really tired and want to get more sleep. Currently I complete my juicing at 7pm but will move it up an hour to 6pm in the hope that it will help to reduce my night urine.

The pain around my shoulder blade area is still lingering and I have been rolling in bed to shift the pressure. Sometimes I feel there is pain but when I move my hands over to press and check, there are none. Sometimes I also feel the pain is around the middle back area. Yesterday evening, I had some pin like pain for short period of spell around my right abdomen area. So I am not sure if I am moving into another round of painful spells. I have read other cancer patients' blogs who followed the Gerson Therapy (the last being yesterday), a man said he experienced excruciating pain before he was cleared of cancer. He did not however say how long he had the pain. I hope I am in similar path as part of the healing process prior to recovery.

Still No Blue Skies

This morning, the back pain around my shoulder area continued. What could be the cause of this pain. Could it be something I have eaten or other causes? The pain does not come immediately and only after long periods in the same position. Rolling over the side every now and then will solve the problem but when you are asleep, this cannot be done conciously.

Some information on my research into the brown rice grains is the amount of phytate they contain. Phytate is found in the outer covering (bran) of the seed and binds magnesium, calcium, iron and zinc, stripping it from the body. Grains are seeds with the potential to sprout and produce. They contains an anti-trypsin factor that inhibits this process until conditions are favorable and allows for storage for long periods. This factor will also oppose human pancreatic enzymes and interfere with digestion. This can be prevented by semi-germinating the seeds in the following way:

a. Soak grains for 12 hours in pure water.
b. Rinse, drain and leave in a glass dish at room temperature covered with a damp cloth for 12 hours.
c. In hot humid climates, rinse again - do not let seeds go moldy.
d. Cook as normal.

Due to the stomach gases, I have substituted potatoes with brown rice porridge. As a result of what I found out about grains, I will now stop taking brown rice porridge (because the preparation takes too long and cumbersome, so I will limit it to once a week) and eat oatmeal instead. I have also found out something about bloating. Bloating has been attributed to food combining. It is essential in the Gerson Therapy to pulp the different vegetables together. So one way to minimise this problem is to add apple to the vegetables when juicing. The malic acid from apples enhances the uptake of nutrients from the vegetables. Apples are cored but not peeled, as the enzyme inhibitor in seeds impedes digestion. Pectin, which is high in green apples, stimulates the immune system.
